Anne understood herself well enough to know that there were "two Annes" - the one she called "bad" Anne, which was the way the world saw her, and the "good" Anne, who was deep, thoughtful and vulnerable. She wrote about this dichotomy at length in the latter pages of her diary, shortly before the diary comes to an end. She wished she could be more like the "good" Anne more of the time, but she also feared the "good" Anne, because she knew she was not in complete control when the "good" Anne manifested herself - she was vulnerable at those times.

Anne Frank thought of herself as a typical teenage girl who enjoyed writing, going to school, and spending time with her family and friends. She also saw herself as someone who had potential and dreams for the future.

∙ 12y agoAnne very much admired Margot (and was also a bit jealous of her), but Anne was often frustrated by Margots careful "correctness" and lack of spontaneity. Underneath it all, though, the two sisters cared very much about each other.
