The so-called Manifest Destiny is famous for its false explanation for the westward movement of the US to the west coast of North America.
I'm assuming you're speaking of Manifest Destiny.
Manifest Destiny was the belief of the United States government that the USA should stretch from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific Ocean. It was a westward expansion movement.
manifest destiny
Manifest Destiny, Indian Removal Acts, and the Homestead Act were all ideas and policies that justified westward expansion.
The term Manifest Destiny was first used to support westward expansion to the Pacific Ocean. Manifest Destiny was a popular concept in 19th century America.
Manifest Destiny caused the American people to expand the nation westward.
The expansion of the US westward dislocated Native American peoples that occupied many areas west of the 13 original British colonies on the east coast of North America. To a lessor extent this happened in what is now Canada and Mexico as well. The so-called manifest destiny narrative makes for interesting reading but is not the explanation for the western movement of Europeans in the eastern colonial areas westward. For example, Canadians moved from what is now Quebec to the western coast of Canada. There was no manifest destiny that accelerated that movement. The same is true for the movement westward by the US.
