What did Australia contribute to World War 2?

Australian pilots took part in the Battle of Brittian. They later bombed German cities. In April and May 1941. Australians fought Germans in Greece and Crete. They had to withdraw because of heavy German air attacks. Australian ships in the Mediterranean supplied troops in North Africa. They brought soldiers back from Greece and Crete. Between January snd March 1941 Australians helped defeat the Italians in North Africa.

Australia was the third largest supplier of combat troops from the Commonwealth in Europe. Her troops were used largely in the North Africa campaign and became part of history with their defence of Tobruk in 41. If not for their defence, then Rommel could have captured this port and eased his supply problems. This would have led to the DAK possibly making it into the Nile delta. This would have drastically changed the course of the war.

Australia also provided troops to South-East Asia, although the whole of Malaya (Singapore & Malaysia) was quickly captured by the Japanese, the troops did help in fighting back for a bit.

And as a side note, Gen. Montgomery was raised in Tasmania in Australia, and adopted the black beret as his unofficial official head gear.

Basically, Australia was a troop provider to Allied Nations, since it was far from the Axis Powers. The closest Japan got to Australia was Papua New Guinea where the Australians fought back and held on till the end of the war.
