armonica, franklin stove, lightning rod, bifocals, and daylight savings time. also i believe he had something to do with the farmers almanac.

The biggest single impact that Franklin had on science was the assignment of the direction of electrical current. He determined that current was the flow of positively charged particles. This happens to be wrong but we still follow the convention even today.

  • Franklin proved that lightning is a form of electricity with the famous, and very dangerous, kite experiment. That experiment led to his discovery of positive and negative electricity and to his development of terms we still use today: battery, conductor, condenser, charge, discharge, electric shock, the instrument we call the glass armonica. and electrician. The lightning rod was among his inventions, along with the Franklin stove- (to help warm houses efficiently ), stepladder, swim fins and bifocal glasses. Franklin also organized an effective postal system, mapped the Gulf Stream and recognized the aurora borealis as an electrical phenomenon.
