Franklin along with Adams and Jefferson was in France as a negotiator for help from France. It annoyed Adams that he refused to learn French, partied all the time, and was very popular. His picture was put on cups and things showing him in a coonskin cap. Adams and Jefferson roomed together for awhile and Adams wrote to his wife complaining about all of the books Jefferson had in their rooms. When Jefferson came back to the states he brought home over 2,000 books.
