Former President Bill Clinton was born William Jefferson Blythe III on August 19, 1946, in Hope, Arkansas. His full present name is William Jefferson Clinton; However, he did not adopt the Clinton surname until he was fifteen years old; his mother, the late Virgina Dell Cassidy had remarried Roger Clinton Sr., his stepfather, after the death of his birth father, William Jefferson Blythe, Jr. in an automobile accident 3 months before his birth. While at high school he was an active student leader, avid reader, and musician.

With the help of scholarships earned for being top in his classes, he attended the Edmund A. Walsh School of Foreign Service at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and received a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (B.S.) degree in 1968. Later, he won a Rhodes Scholarship to University College, at Oxford, he then switch to Yale where he got his law degree. While at Yale Law School, he worked with the 1972 McGovern campaign.

Clinton was elected as the Attorney General of Arkansas in 1972, and became governor in 1978, serving one term until 1981 before getting elected governer again in1982. Upon his election for his first term in 1978, he was the second youngest Governor in U.S history, at 32, Stevens T. Mason has the honor of youngest state governor at the age of 22 in 1834.
