watched the minless violance

They did a lot in the war. They were a part of the Triple Entente. They captured Vimy ridge (using the creeping barrage tactic), which was something that many other large countries tried but failed to do. After Vimy Ridge Canada began to get some credit from the rest of the world. People realized that Canadians were good fighters.

Canada was involved in the battle of the somme and the battle at ypres.

(Others too i just don't remember them right now.)

Canadian army consisted of the initial contingent, the second contingent of soldiers, the Canadian Corps in September 1915, the Canadian Cavalry Brigade and many other Canadian units.

Canada was the arsenal, the commisary and the training ground for the UK during WWI. They also provided troops on a very high percentage compared to other UK countries. The ANZAC's suffered terrible losses that overshadowed Canada's WWI contribution. In WWII the Canadians suffered terrible losses. War is unfair and the scales seldom balance out.
