What did Douglas Adams discover?

He didn't discover anything, he was just a very clever guy who wrote The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series which, although humorous, did contain a lot of deeper philosophical issues regarding the meaning of life, the nature of God, flaws in human nature and so on. he was using humour to convey deeper meaning, which a lot of humourists have done and still do. Unfortunately he was an atheist, which limited his spectrum greatly but fitted his sardonic attitude to life.
