Many who read the below verses will come away thinking it was Ham who did the wrong act. But a closer read could point to it being Ham's son Canaan:
Genesis 9:22-26New King James Version (NKJV)
22 And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment, laid it on both their shoulders, and went backward and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were turned away, and they did not see their father's nakedness.
24 So Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him. 25 Then he said:
"Cursed be Canaan;
A servant of servants
He shall be to his brethren."
26 And he said:
"Blessed be the Lord,
The God of Shem,
And may Canaan be his servant.
Now the question is was Canaan just 'viewing' his grandfather's nakedness or did he do something else besides that? There are many interpretations of this with none having substantial evidence to be considered factual.
The name Ham is in the Bible but not Lat Ham. Ham is the name of the youngest son of Noah. He is thought to be the ancestor of the Egyptians, Ethiopians, Libyans and Canaanites.
Ham means hot.
Black,
EsauGenesis 9:18 - Now the sons of Noah who went out of the ark were Shem, Ham, and Japheth. And Ham was the father of Canaan. [NKJV]
I say ham had the worst name!
In the Bible, Japheth is traditionally considered the ancestor of European peoples, while Ham is viewed as the ancestor of African peoples. These racial identifications are based on interpretations of biblical genealogies and historical accounts. The Bible does not explicitly categorize people into distinct races as we understand them today.
This is his name according to relevant Bible references.
they are the sons of noah:
They come from Ham, Noah's son. Genesis 10:6 "And the sons of Ham; Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan." the bible says that some come from ham's branch and some say that ham's branch was cursed but this is not true. he had a son named Canaan this is who was cursed, not the tribe (the Canaanites)
For the story of Ham, see chapter 9 of Genesis. Nothing is said about his wife other than he has one. Chapter 10 tells about the descendants of Ham. No daughters are mentioned.
Ham, son of Noah, was cursed for doing something he should not have done (seeing his father Noah drunk and naked). Answer B: The Bible does not say that Ham was cursed. It says his son Canaan was cursed.
his kids names where sham, ham, and Japheth it is in the first part of the bible.
