Harriet Tubman was a runaway slave from Maryland who dedicated her life to the cry of her people, "Let my people go!" She became known as "Moses of her people." Over 10 years she led more than 300 slaves to freedom along the Underground railroad. During the Civil War she was a nurse and a spy for the federal forces in South Carolina. If anyone ever wanted to change his/her mind during the journey to freedom, Harriet pulled out a gun and said, "You'll be free or die a slave!"
at one point the reward for her capture was $40,000. yet, she was ever captured and never failed to deliver her people. Harriet once said, "On my Underground Railroad I never run my train off the tracks and I never lost a passenger."
