Did harry hess find the mid-ocean ridge?

yes he did

Where can divergent divergent boundary be found?

Most divergent boundaries can be found on the ocean floor. divergent boundaries create Rift Valleys An example of this is the Mid-Atlantic Ridge discovered by Harry Hess.

What process did harry hess discover to make alferd wegners theory more accepted?

He discovered that the ocean floor moves like a conveyor belt, carrying the continents with them. This process begins at the mid-ocean ridge. Old oceanic crust go back to the mantle through trenches and molten material comes out of the mid-ocean ridge, making new crust. Harry Hess called this constant process sea-floor spreading.

What are the two main causes for Harry Hess' mid ocean ridge?

it is formed from convection currents.

What scientist helped to discover the process of sea floor spreading?

Harry Hess

What evidence did harry hess use to prove sea-floor spreading?

Harry Hess was mapping the floor of the ocean when he found a mountain range in the middle of the ocean. He found that the land nearest to the ridge was younger compared to the fact that the farther away land was from the ridge, the older it dated. He used this to find that the mountain ridge was creating new land and pushing aside the old land.

How did harry hess's hypothsis explain seafloor movement?

It explained seafloor movement because he researched that hot/less dense material rises to Earths crust, at the Mid-Atlantic Ridge. At the hole the magma cools making new seafloor. He also found out that there were new rocks near the Mid-Atlantic Ridge and old ones farther away. Hess also theorized that this seafloor has to filter somewhere- this somewhere is called the subduction zone. The subduction zone is an area where old seafloor sinks and the plates melt it forms into magma, building pressure within the Earth. When there is too much pressure the Earth lets out this energy in Arcs, Volcanic islands, etc.

How did Harry Hess hypothesis explain seafloor spreading?

Harry Hess hypothesized that the sea floor was spreading. He explained it through the phenomena of the youngest rocks that are found only at the mid-ocean ridges. These rocks then, get progressively older when moving away from the ridge.

How did Harry Hess discover seafloor spreading?

Harry hess' hypothesis was hot/less dense material rises up the Earth's crust toward the mid-ocean ridges. When the seafloor breaks apart, magma is forced upward and through the cracks. It cools, and becomes a new seafloor. When it moves away from the mid-ocean ridge, it becomes denser and sinks. This helps form ridges.

Did harry hess have family?

Rear Admiral Dr. Harry Hammond Hess was married to Annette (Burns), and was the father of Dr. George Burns Hess and Frank Deming Mather Hess.

Where do most divergent boundaries occur?

divergent boundaries mostly occur when 2 tectonic plates move apart from each other and this is due to the currents movement. On earth, the form drift vallies and fault. Example can be san andreas fault on western side of united state of america.
