James and John asked to be seated on the right hand and left hand of Jesus in heaven, displeasing the other disciples. Dennis R. MacDonald points out that at Mark 3:17, the brothers are called "Sons of Thunder" and suggests Mark was creating a Homeric parallel by comparing them to another pair of brothers, the Dioscuri, sons of Zeus. Zeus is often associated with thunder, and the sons are depicted as on the right and left of an enthroned deity.
Primarily it was the 12 Apostles of Jesus and other disciples who help these.
In John 17:6-19 is Jesus' prayer for His disciples. In it He thanks God the Father for giving the disciples to Him to teach and prepare them to carry on the work that the Father wanted done, to make disciples of all nations, baptizing them and teaching them to observe all the things that He (Jesus) commanded. Jesus did what the Father commanded and that included choosing not only James, Peter and John but the other disciples as well.
The term 'disciples' means 'imitator' that is followers of Jesus Christ attempting to do things His way. The 'inner group' of disciples that were given to Jesus by His Father are called the 12 Apostles.

Of the twelve disciples of Jesus there were two James' One was "James the Less" and his father's name was Alphaeus. The other disciple of Jesus whose name was James was the brother of John and their father was Zebedee. The bible tells us nothing further of Alphaeus.
We know of from the Bible a couple of the trades of Jesus' disciples, and they were fishermen and there was also a tax collector (Matthew). Other than these trades we don't have much more information from the scriptures.
Zero. They had other names for him, such as "Teacher" and Peter called him "The Christ" but they never called him "Jesus".
The earliest converts to Christianity were primarily Jewish people who believed that Jesus was the fulfillment of their religious prophecies and teachings. Among them were Jesus' disciples, such as Peter, James, and John, who became leaders in the early Christian movement. Other early converts included individuals like Paul, who was initially a persecutor of Christians but later became a passionate follower of Jesus.
As 'hate' is the opposite of what Jesus taught - Love - no, they did not.
Jesus is like his Father in the Old Testament, and is displeased when we worship other Gods. Nevertheless, though he is good and kind and forgiving, he cannot accept any of us unless we repent.
[John 20:24] Thomas called Didymus aka Doubting Thomas because when the disciples told him they had seen Jesus, Thomas would not believe them unless he had tangible proof which he got 8 days later when Jesus reappeared.
Jesus during his ministry life on earth traveled over Judea as well as Galilee, it was while he was passing the river side he called his first disciples Peter, Andrew, James and John the sons of Zebedee.
