Jesus did not just believe but knew His teaching to be that of almighty God. He also knew that the teachings of His followers, as found in the scriptures of the New Testament were to be inspired by the Holy spirit who came at Pentecost. They were thus also God's words and not just the words of men only, although the individual styles and differences of the authors are also evident.

Where in the bible does it speak about when thomas met Jesus?

The meeting of Jesus and Thomas was rather uneventful, and there is no information about it other than that Thomas became one of the disciples. The really interesting encounter was after the resurrection, when Jesus appeard to the disciples and Thomas wasn't there at the time. The disciples told Thomas about the meeting, but Thomas refused to believe them. "Unless I see in his hands the print of the nails," he declared, "and place my finger in the mark of the nails, and place my hand in his side, I will not believe." Eight days later, Thomas was with the others when Jesus appeared again. Jesus presented himself to Thomas and answered the conditions for Thomas to believe. In shock and awe, Thomas could only answer, "My Lord and my God!" This story is told in John 20:24-29.

Was one of Jesus' disciples burnt to death?

A:This is not reported in the Bible. Some traditions from the second century or later do have the disciples dying in various, often gruesome ways, but the historicity of these legends is very much open to doubt. There is no reason to believe that any of the disciples was burnt to death.

Did any of Jesus' disciples see him baptized?

It is doubtful that Jesus baptised disciples personally, although the New Testament points to disciples of Jesus baptising, likely under His supervision. It is also unclear whether anyone baptised by his disciples became disciples themselves. Remember that Jesus had many more disciples in addition to the Twelve who were later promoted to Apostles. A number of Jesus' disciples were originally disciples of his cousin John, the Baptiser, and were almost undoubtedly baptised by John.

Why was Thomas the Apostle a disciple?

Thomas was chosen as a disciple by Jesus to be one of the twelve apostles. He accompanied Jesus during his ministry, witnessed his miracles, and was present at key events like the Last Supper and the Resurrection. Thomas played a significant role in spreading the teachings of Jesus after his death.

Did Christians believe in Jesus?

Actually there were no 'Christians' when Jesus was alive. The term christian came later as those (mostly Jews) that followed the teachings of Christ and his disciples. But there were many who did believe in Jesus. Many who had been healed by Him or possibly had seen or heard of His resurrection became what we now call the first Christians. It should be remembered that what one man started (on a cross)and was later carried on by a handful of devoted followers, would centuries later become the biggest religious movement in the history of mankind, in essense, changing human history.

What were the twelve men who traveled with Jesus and helped spread his teachings called?

Why did doubting thomas get his name?

Doubting Thomas is so called because unlike the other apostles, he refused to believe Jesus had risen from the dead without solid proof in front of him own eyes. He could not have faith with out proof. Jesus appeared to some of the disciples, but Thomas was not with them. When the other disciples told him what had happened he rebuked them and said " Unless I see the nail marks in his hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hand into his side, I will not believe it." (John 20:25) Eight days later Jesus appeared to the disciples again and this time Thomas was with them. He stood among them and said "Peace be with you" and then turning to Thomas he said, "Put your finger here; see my hands. Reach out your hand and put it into my side. Doubt no longer but believe" (John 20:26-29). Thomas then said that because he has seen he could believe. Jesus said to him "You believe because you can see me. Happy are those who have not seen and yet believe". This is where the name Doubting Thomas comes from.
