Jesus came here because humans sin, and sin has one punishment - "death". God didn't want all humans to die, because he loves us so he sent his one and only son to die for everyone who ever lived or ever would live. He died so we could have the option to ask the one true Lord into our heart and to believe him so we could live with him forever when we die. This is summarized in one of my favorite Bible verses: "For God so loved the world that he gave his only son so that whoever believes in him shall not die but have eternal life. John 3:16"
