Jesus had 12 apostles.
Two that would be of most importance to the apostles would have been the authority to ordain others to the ministry. Second, that when He had returned to his father in heaven he would have given them the gift of the Holy Spirit to testify to them the truth of all that it would instruct them in. Up until that time they had no need of the Spirit as a permanent companion for Christ was there to instruct them. The Holy Spirit did however testify to each of them that Jesus was the Christ before His death.

The first one to describe Jesus was John the Baptizer, son of Zechariah and Elizabeth. John began his preaching in the wilderness of Juda, saying : Repent, for the Kingdom of the heavens has drawn near. " Read Matthew 3: 1, 2. John being sent was the a manifestation of God's loving kindness toward the Jews. They were the covenant relationship with Jehovah God but were guilty of sins committed against the Law covenant. John brought to their attention that they had broken the covenant, and he urged honesthearted ones to repentance. Their water baptism symbolized this repentance. Then they were in line to recognize the Messiah. Read Acts 19:4. So to answer your question concerning the teaching of John the Baptizer and the 12 apostles, it was repentance and reconciliation with God. 2 Corinthians 5: 18,19 reads: " God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of the reconciliation. God by means of Christ reconciling a world to himself, not counting their offenses against them, and he entrusted to us the message of the reconciliation. Read Romans 5: 11; 11: 15. Jesus' nature was the imitatation God's qualities which is : love, joy, peace patience, kindness, goodness, faith, mildness, self-control. Against such things there is no law. Read Galatians 5: 22,23
