This passage first occurred in Mark's Gospel at chapter 13, with similar passages in Matthew and Luke. Jesus was talking to his followers about the end of times and the Second Coming.

He told his listeners that they would see the Temple destroyed, and the abomination of desolation, followed by the Son of man coming in clouds of glory, and that this would take place during their own generation.

Answer:

The verse before it sets the time frame: "...WHEN YE SHALL SEE ALL THESE THINGS, know that it is near, even at the doors. Verily I say unto you, THIS GENERATION SHALL NOT PASS, till ALL THESE THINGS be fulfilled." (Matt.24:33-34).

It's the generation that actually lives and sees the things Jesus is describing that shall not die out before the prophecies are fulfilled.

What is the reason why Jesus was baptized by John?

Jesus fulfilled Scripture when he was water baptized. But He was not baptized for His sins- He was sinless. When Jesus was baptized, He was baptized with the Holy Spirit, and with the Spirit came power. Jesus never performed any miracles before he was baptized. He had the Holy spirit, but he was not baptized with the full power of the Spirit until John baptized him.

Jehovah's Witnesses what is your latest understanding of the term 'this generation'?

Jesus said in Matthew 24 ''Truly I say to you that this generation will by no means pass away until all these things occur''. The latest understanding is that he meant :''Truly I say to you that this generation, that saw the generation that saw 1914, will by no means pass away until all these things occur''The journal The Watchtower 2010 April 15th explains as follows :''How, then, are we to understand Jesus' words about "this generation"? He evidently meant that the lives of the anointed who were on hand when the sign began to become evident in 1914 would overlap with the lives of other anointed ones who would see the start of the great tribulation'' In other words, the generation that saw the generation that saw 1914 will not pass away until all these things occur.

What generation is this generation in the Bible?

A:Whenever the Bible talks of "this generation" it is a reference to the people living at the time in which the story is set. So, when (Mark 8:12) Jesus says that this generation will not receive a sign, it means that the Pharisees who were goading him will not see a sign from heaven. When Jesus said (12:30) that this generation will not pass until these things are done, he means that the sun and moon will be darkened, the stars will fall from the sky and Jesus will return in clouds of glory, while at least some of those alive at the time of Jesus were still alive - obviously not before any of them had died. This last prophecy did not come to pass, so Matthew and Luke, in copying from Mark, changed it to say that no one will know when Jesus will return.

What chapter and verse where god says not jot or one title of his word should be changed?

This statement can be found in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter 5, verse 18, where Jesus says, "For truly I tell you, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished."

Was Jesus Christ Mormon?

No. Jesus was Jewish. He fulfilled the Mosaic/Jewish law when he died, so Christianity technically didn't start until his death. When Jesus was alive on the earth in was about 1800 years before the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (commonly called "Mormons") was founded. You can read about the Mormon's beliefs about Jesus Christ at the website provided under "Related Links" below.

Who prophesied to Mary?

The prophet, Isaiah (see Isaiah 7:14).B: The Holy Spirit revealed to Isaiah that his prophecy pointed forward to Jesus (John 12:41). It was not until after the miraculous virginal conception and birth of Jesus more than six hundred years later that it became entirely clear that the near fulfillment of Isaiah's prophecy was a type, the archetype of which is Jesus the Messiah (Matthew 1:22-23). While Maher-Shalal-Hash-Baz signified temporal salvation for Judah, Jesus Christ, the literal "Immanuel", embodied eternal salvation for true Israel. The prophecy in Isaiah chapter 7 was a predictiveprophecy fulfilled in Isaiah chapter 8. Looking back at the Old Testament through the lens of the New, we see Isaiah's prophecy also as a typological prophecy fulfilled in Jesus. Atheists point to this prophecy in order to show proof that the Bible is not credible when Isaiah makes clear this prophecy was fulfilled when Isaiah "went to the prophetess, and she conceived and gave birth to a son" named Maher-Shalah-Hash-Baz (8:3).

How did the journey to Egypt during Jesus' infancy fulfill Scripture?

This prophecy was predicted in Numbers 24:8 and in Hosea 11:1. When you read these predictions don't expect to find the name of "Jesus", because as a person He was unknown until His birth. The predictions are Messianic and were fulfilled by Jesus the Christ in scripture found in Matthew 2:13-15.
