Jesus came in contact with a lot of people and treated them equally. For example, the Samaritan woman at the well, in those days "good" Jews wouldn't associate with Samaritans, they believed them to be lower than dogs. Jesus also welcomed women in his ministry, something that the culture at that time frowned upon. Mathew was a tax collector, which most people wouldn't associate with because they made their money lying and deceiving. They were also considered traitors to the Jewish nation because they served Rome.
