no they do not hope this helps! --- It depends on your religion. Buddists believe that every creature has a spirit as do the Hindus. Catholics didn't believe that animals had souls until fairly recently when the Vatican changed it mind.

John isn't referring here to demon possession, but to teachers who promote error. All true believers have God's Holy Spirit as John said above in 3:24. But we should realize that false prophets obey evil spirits and only a true prophet receives direct revelation from God. False prophets may and many do claim they received direct revelation from God but in fact promotes erroneous ideas/teachings. Such was the case with Simon Magus, aka Peter.
