She sells the statues to the gods, and the gods only. And, it's to make some money of course! She gets paid golden drachma (Money of the gods), and the gods get some statues, Also in the 5th book, it says that Nico was in the garden of Persephone or whatever, and that Percy could see the statues of Medusa.
