Despite current and recent teachings about the Sphinx and even the pyramids, it's not 100% certain that the pharaohs built either of them. Recently, MULTIPLE geologists have discovered water erosion on the Sphinx that resulted from thousands of years of rain fall. Now, as we know, it hasn't rained in the Nile Valley since approximately 7000 B.C. And although all these geologists have seen, reviewed and agreed that water erosion IS in FACT on the Sphinx, most archaeologists refuse to consider that as a possibility, as it would mean that all we've been teaching has been wrong.
However, its been believed that the Sphinx was there to guard the pyramids, depending on which text you read.
