She was the first social figure of her time to shake the hand of a person diagnosed with the AIDS virus despite what was thought about them in the 1980's. She would visit hospitals/hospices full of sick children, kneel hug them, talk to them and make them feel comfort and she continued to do those thing even after she divorced for Prince Charles and lost her title as Princess of Wales.

Current feeling is that her demand to change the view of monarchy to one that showed care and feels was the saving grace for the UK royal family as at the time many were beginning to questions they existance and their connection with the people of the commonwealth (as well as home). Prices Diana was was and remains known as the peoples princess
