The Outsiders' is a novel written by American author S.E. Hinton, she started writing it when she was 16 years old and it was published when she was 18. She had recalled in an interview that she got the first ideas for her novel from an incident she witnessed, in which one of her classmates was being beaten up by a group of rich kids, she also seems to have based the personality of the main character of the book, Ponyboy Curtis, in her own experiences as an avid reader among her more simple-minded family members and friends.
well story is based on real life and she was righting about it first hand because this was happening in her school and in the book The Outsiders she uses slang to help the characters come to life in order to make the reader feel like they are in the story and it helps them picture the story in their head better to make them understand it.
