St. Teresa of Avila was a Carmelite who reformed the Carmelite order and founded the Discalced Carmelites. She became a saint by following the will of God, she was a great mystic, and left us numerous books on how to pray and how to live the Christian life which she wrote at the command of her spiritual directors. She was humble, and obedient to the Will of God in all things, seeing the Will of God in the commands of her superiors and her directors. This complete obedient and humility led to great perfection in this life.
