If it's truly an American gold coin from 1841, please post a new, separate question with its denomination. If you got it in change and it has a picture of the Statue of Liberty on the back and the denomination $1, it's not gold and it's not from 1841. It's one of the current Presidential dollars. These coins are made of gold-colored brass and 1841 is the year that the president (certainly W. H. Harrison) served in office. There are billions of them and they have no extra value so you can feel free to spend it.
