Santa Anna then went to Goliad and killed every soldier that was caught. He then burned down every settlement he went to and killed any other Texans found causing the runaway scrape. Sam Houston later defeated him at the battle of San Jacinto. After he knew he would be defeated, he changed into a regular soldier outfit and tried to hide among his army. He was then caught when his fellow Mexicans began calling out to him, "Your Excellency". Texans where very angered about what had happened to the men at the Alamo and Goliad and wanted to kill him, but Sam Houston spared his life in return for Texas.
