In his sleep, Tom is saying over and over again "it's blood, it's blood, that's what it is!" and "Don't torment me so- I'll tell!" What was happening was Tom must have been having nightmares after Injun Joe killed the doctor and in the nightmares he got scared and started talking in his sleep. He wants to tell that Injun Joe really killed the doctor because Muff Potter was getting framed and he had no defense to say he didn't. Tom wanted to make it right because Muff had been good to Tom. He couldn't tell because he and Huck had made a blood oath to say they would never tell.
Sid heard Tom talking about treasure buried in the haunted house in his sleep. This led to his curiosity and him questioning Tom about it later in the story.
In "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer," the superstition is that a dog howling at night signifies death. Tom and Huck believe this superstition and are frightened when they hear a dog howling at night after they witness a murder.

I used to talk in my sleep. When I would, my children would ask me questions and I would answer them. Their questions had to pertain to whatever I was talking about or I would stop answering them and stop talking. But in the morning I would have no recollection that I had talked in my sleep or that I heard them. I didn't believe them so they recorded me when I did it.
Because when you sleep your in a very deep sleep. Especially when you snore your in a very deep sleep. And... hense...deep sleep you can't hear. well, technically you CAN hear but your ears are sort of shut out. So, therefore you can't hear yourself snore. I recommend an immulsifier it may help.
It could mean anything. For example, Case 1, he's not really asleep or is really only close to sleep. He's basically responding to your question. He may be using "sleep" to tell you what you want to hear or is using sleep to cover what he really wants to tell you. Case 2, he was talking in his sleep, that is, he was dreaming and you got him to verbalize in a dream. He could be talking to you or his dream. And, dreams can be weird -- he could think he's talking to his dog, a tree, an ex, or you. So, ignore actual dream talk.
People talk in my dreams all the time- I have had people record me sleeping and gesturing and talking about all sorts of subjects- I suppose it is just a matter of what goes on in your REM Sleep- maybe you're just not in a deep enough sleep to hear them or that you forget what you have heard by the time you wake up as your brain will tell you that nothing happened when in fact it did- each persons memories of their dreams are different - you should leave a recorder on all night that is voice activated- if you hear people talking in your sleep- you will answer them- then you will know for sure
