"Uncle Tom's Cabin" by Harriet Beecher Stowe was a novel that depicted the harsh realities of slavery, influencing public opinion and contributing to the anti-slavery sentiment in the North. It heightened tensions between the abolitionist North and pro-slavery South, ultimately playing a role in the lead up to the US Civil War.

I believe that the war would still have happened. The book "Uncle Tom's Cabin" did help to make many people more concerned about the injustice of slavery, but the war was not originally intended to end slavery, it was intended to prevent the southern states from seceding from the union. And even the concern about slavery did not depend upon a single book; those injustices still existed and would still have been known, even had that book not been written.
