I think cats eye name was given to a nebulea which is 3300 light years away from our earth . It is located in the Draco constellation and firstly discover by William Herschel in 1786

Who discovered infrared light?

Sir Frederick William Herschel discovered infrared light in an experiment to measure the temperature of different frequencies of light.

What is the color of light where the thermometer is located?

How did sir frederick william herschel discover infrared?

He used blackened light bulbs to measure the heat of the colors in the rainbow/spectrum. He found that red was the hottest. So he did more studies and called it "calorific rays" which later changed to infrared radiation.

Did Issac Newton discover the composition of light and the nature of color?

What did Isaac Newton discover about color?

How did herschel discover the infrared wave?

He directed sunlight through a glass prism to create a spectrum (the rainbow created when light is divided into its colors) and then measured the temperature of each color. Herschel used three thermometers with blackened bulbs (to better absorb heat) and, for each color of the spectrum, placed one bulb in a visible color while the other two were placed beyond the spectrum as control samples. As he measured the individual temperatures of the violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red light, he noticed that all of the colors had temperatures higher than the controls. Moreover, he found that the temperatures of the colors increased from the violet to the red part of the spectrum. After noticing this pattern Herschel decided to measure the temperature just beyond the red portion of the spectrum in a region where no sunlight was visible. To his surprise, he found that this region had the highest temperature of all.

What color is William sewards hair?

Originally his hair was red, but as he got older it turned a light, straw-color.

How Herschel discovered infrared radiation?

while Herschel is performing the experiment on prism he send a white light through a prism this white light is split in to seven colors violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange, red. he observed that heat is increasing from violet to red. red color light has more heat than others. when he measured the beyond the red portion of light he observed more heat than the red light thus he named this invisible portion of light as infrared .where infra means after

Who developed electromagnetic spectrum?

The electromagnetic spectrum wasn't "developed"--it was discovered. The first person to started this discovery was William Herschel in 1799. He wanted to find out how light and heat were connected. Herschel used a prism to break up white light and then measured the temperature of each color. Violet had the loset reading, and red had the highest. Then Wilhelm Ritter, in 1801, discovered ultraviolet light. Ritter dipped pieces of paper into silver nitrate. He shone a different-colored light on each strip, working his way through the rainbow. (Silver nitrate goes through a chemical reaction when exposed to light) Ritter discovered the reactions of the paper varied depending on the color that was shined on it. Ritter wanted to continue his experiment. When exposed to violet light, the paper would turn much darker than any of the other colors. Then he tested for a "darker light" at the end of the color spectrum. When he did this, the paper turned even darker than when it had been exposed to violet light, proving that there was light beyond violet. This invisible light was named ultraviolet.

When was infrared discovered?

According to NASA infrared radiation was first discovered in 1800, by a British astronomer named William Herschel. In an experiment to measure the difference in temperature between the colors in the visible spectrum, he placed thermometers in the path of light within each color of the visible spectrum. He observed an increase in temperature from blue to red, including an even warmer temperature measurement just beyond the red end of the visible spectrum.
