A rifel, sidearm (Pistol), combat knife, grenades, and ammunition. Other than that it was up to the individual what they carried. Some may have been given more powerful weapons such as a gatling gun or mortar, but these were specific troops.

In what environment? In a cantonment environment, it might just be identification, notepad, and pen. In a field training exercise or combat environment, there'll be weapon, ammuniton, protective gear (body armour, protective mask, helmet), identification, writing utensils... and there'll be equipment specific to their occupation and mission, as well.
