he accomplished to be the father of the mission.
Father Junipero Serra is credited with discovering California. Once he arrived there, he set up the first missions in the area.
He went home
I know he helped kill thousands of Native Americans with the mission system he set up. How he felt about that we can not know. I can guess and say that he thought he was right because he was converting them. I don't consider him peaceful for those reasons.
I could find no reference to a "Joseph Serra" that related to founding a church. However, the Mormon church (Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints) was founded by a Joseph Smith. A Father Junipero Serra was a Franciscan priest (Roman Catholic) who founded a group of missions in Mexico and up and down the California coast, in the 16th Century. He did not found a church, unless you are referring to a mission church.
