General George Patton was acting as a decoy with a fictitious army in south east England to keep the eyes of Germany away from the real invasion site.

In Jan. 1944 Patton arrived in England with 2 assignments. Deceive Germany that he was in charge of invasion force that did not exist. He did this by appearences to add validity to fake reports, radio traffic, fake military equip. The second assignment was to train the 3rd army. He did this in secret. After D-Day Patton returned to the war with the 3rd a month after D-Day. Patton arrived in July and the 3rd began operational in August
