Henry Ford was always very interested in mechanics. I suppose It's because he grew up on a farm but from an early age he was interested in watches and would fix them for people, eventually he got a job at a watchmaker. This passion for mechanics them inspired him to build his own car, which was more like a motorised seat on four wheels. From there he began to make more advanced carsuntil he finally established the Ford Motor Corporation. At that stage cars were quite expensive, as they took a long time to build, and could only be afforded by the rich. Henry Ford had the idea that everyone should have a car which lead to the development of the famous Model T but to keep cost down so it was affordable for everyone Henry Ford was the first to use a production line.
I know there's a bit more information than what your question asked for specifically but I thought it was relevant as it is debatable what is the "car" I believe the car is a mode of transport for anyone and everyone.
