Almost nothing. Pilgrims were expected to be poor and to rely on charity as they travelled; in many cases they must have been very hungry most of the time.
A pilgrim usually carried a staff of wood, either a single stout stick or three thinner ones tied together representing the Holy Trinity. This served as a walking-stick, a support when crossing difficult terrain and a weapon in case of attacks by outlaws or dangerous animals.
He would also carry a small leather or cloth bag called a scrip which contained an eating bowl, a spoon, a knife and perhaps a few morsels of bread.
He might have a coarse woollen cloak or a blanket rolled and tied over his shoulder, a cap or wide-brimmed hat and perhaps spare shoes (if he was lucky).
Otherwise he had no belongings and little or no money.

Others came for financial opportunity, but the Pilgrams came first and foremost for religious freedom.
The Pilgrams sighted land, which was the tip of the Cape, known as Provincetown, on November 9th, 1620.
