When Adam and Eve were in the garden and sin fell upon mankind God came down and clothed them. God in his perfect wisdom dressed Adam and Eve in over the head tunics, which is like a sundress. this style of clothing change little till about 1750AD with the introduction of trousers which came down to the knee and stocking to the feet. Also called robes, tunics, dresses all the same. So men wore skirts, tunics, dresses and robes before the introduction of pants.
