Witches were seen as active agents of the devil. Not only were they blamed for agricultural failures, they were seen as the cause of any ailment or disease that was affecting the pious. For example, Charles II of Spain was so deformed from generations of inbreeding (his grandmother was related to him 42 different ways), that the only way he could rationalize his extreme physical and mental defects was to assume that his citizens were practicing witchcraft - this sparked a cruel and viscous period in the history of the Catholic Church and Inquisition.

well they could cast spells , ride on broomsticks but to make sure people could not notice that they were witches they had to dress up as ordinary women !

People were scared of what witches could or would do with their power. They considered all witches evil, which was not, in fact, the case. Indeed, there were evil witches, but there were also good witches.

people think of it as green

people thought witches were terrible deadly people who wore a black dress, a hat, and always use to be carrying a brom stick!!

Probably because things happened to them (animals or people getting sick, weather phenomena, etc) that they feared and that they could not explain by natural forces.

Witches could kill people, as well as livestock, which were very hard to replace in rural Massachusetts, making them very valuable. A witch could change the weather to ruin crops or sink ships. And farming and shipping were the life's blood of Salem.

OK, so you really care about the opinions of people who think there are real witches who cursed the play Macbeth? They are obviously insane. But if you were looney enough to believe that such a thing could happen, I suppose you might think that the witches were angry that Shakespeare gave away their best recipe.

tey think they should be torcherd tey think they should be torcherd

i think it started with the Boston witch trials when people thought people were practicing evil rituals and witchcraft so they burned them at the stake or killed them. but they rlly werent witches-i think lol[ ==

Let's be clear, the Puritans were also the ones doing the mistreating. Hysteria swept the community because of the religion they followed and the only thing they could think to do was blame witches for what was going on. With no real witches, people thought to be witches were all there were.

Not many people are witches today, but i doubt believe that they are witches today so you cant tell

Witches did not have green skin or hooked noses. Witches could be anyone. People who were outcasts in society were typically the ones who got accused most often.

Witchcraft is the art of a witch. Many people are frightend by this because they think witches are green and fly on brooms. But witches are really just some phsyco chick trying to scare people.

Witches were being condemed because of various reasons because they had much power of which they could not even control themselves which triggered selfness. They could do many things to satisfy there need no matter whether the consiquences could hate other people. The communities got fed up of these behaviors and that led to ban witchcraft but those few who did it for the best of the communities were being praised.

Actually, some people believe that black cats are the sourceof good luck. But the reason behind their bad reputation might consult back to the time of witch-hunting, where witches were believed to take a familular. This could be any animal at all. As the years have passed, the legend of witches has changed and many people today think of witches with a pet cat, which is often black. As people feared the witches, they also fear their familulars. Hope this helped!

Normally, people would not blame the witches. They just said things and Macbeth reacted by doing things. The witches can only be held to blame if you think that Macbeth had no choice in his actions. But if he had no choice, how come the witches do have a choice?

Puritans believed in witches because witches were mentioned in the Bible. They believed these creatures were in league with the Devil, and could masquerade as normal around people. People were very superstitious and gullible. They blamed witches for all the bad things that happened in life. As a result of these beliefs, the Salem Witch Trials occurred.

Witches and wizards could trade their tactics in their world.
