The high priests servants ear was cut by the sword of Peter, please note this is the only defense noted in the bible to save Jesus.
10Then Simon Peter having a sword drew it, and smote the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus.
Peter
John 18:10New International Version (NIV) 10 Then Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, cutting off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.)
Saint Peter's ear was not stabbed. Peter cut off the ear of a servant of the high priest in the Garden of Olives at the time of Christ's arrest.
Peter, who is Jesus's brother.
After Peter cut off the ear of the high priest's servant, Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Put your sword back in its place, for all who draw the sword will die by the sword." He then healed the servant's ear, emphasizing that his mission was not to resort to violence. Jesus highlighted the importance of fulfilling the scriptures and God's plan rather than engaging in conflict.
Peter cut off the ear of Malchus, the High Priest's slave:-Joh 18:1 After Jesus had said this prayer, he left with his disciples and went across Kidron Brook. There was a garden in that place, and Jesus and his disciples went in.Joh 18:2 Judas, the traitor, knew where it was, becausemany times Jesus had met there with his disciples.Joh 18:3 So Judas went to the garden, taking with him a group of Roman soldiers, and some Temple guards sent by the chief priests and the Pharisees; they were armed and carried lanterns and torches....Joh 18:10 Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the High Priest's slave, cutting off his right ear.The name of the slave was Malchus. Joh 18:11 Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back in its place! Do you think that I will not drink the cup of suffering which my Father has given me?"Peter wasn't aiming for his ear - he was trying to split Malchus in two from top to bottom, but instead he ducked. As Malchus was the High Priest's slave, he would have been very close to him, so it is likely that Peter was actually after Caiaphas. (If he had not been stopped by Christ, Peter would have been guilty of the first-degree murder of the the High Priest, the Sanhedrin, Temple Guard, and the whole Roman army.)
The priests grow beards because they have the feeling of thinking if hair is cut it brings you bad things so they don't cut it :D
John 18:10 - Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant, and cut off his right ear. The servant's name was Malchus. [NKJV]
No roman soldier actually had his ear cut off. The incident occurred as soldiers came to arrest Jesus, and with them were some officials from the chief priests and Pharisees. The gospels of Matthew and Luke do not record the name of the disciple who cut off the ear of a servant of the high priest. John 18:10 records that it was Simon Peter, and that the servant's name was Malchus.
