It depends on what kind of priest you are talking about. Japanese priests and priestess uses herbs and noise and chants. Christian priests recite The Bible and bless the house. Pagan priests and priestesses use ritual, herbs, noise, chants, salts, chalk, and a range of other things.
And about the tip: No matter if you think about a demon or spirit, they are still there and they will not go away unless you deal with them. Ignoring them only makes things escalate. Pretending a loaded gun in a desk drawer doesnt mean the gun goes away or is any less dangerous. And, typically, a house blessing will also make things worse.
