The Navajo ate sheep and other food that has to do with meat.
They ate animals such as prairedogs, rabbits, deer, elk, bison, antelope. They grew corn, beans and squash. They gathered pinon nuts, yucca fruit, cactus fruit and berries and leafy greens. Later in the 1600s came watermelon, peaches, onion, and chillies. Sheep came in the 1540s. Sheep and goats arenow very central to the culture.
Before the Spanish came to America they ate mostly corn, beans, and squash. Afterwards they started herding animals such as sheep and goats, which also became very important to their diet.
