It is still unclear how the false report on Twitter originated, but it seems as though someone falsified a press release stating that Jon Bon Jovi had died while doing a show in New Jersey. This rumor was all the rage on Twitter on December 19, 2011.
By that evening, Jon Bon Jovi himself decided to take to his Facebook page to set fans' minds at ease. He posted a picture of himself in front of his Christmas tree holding a sign that said "Heaven looks a lot like New Jersey," along with the date December 19, 2011.
