Naraku wanted to lure InuYasha and the crew to their deaths in the belly of that stone demon, and leave nothing but the jewel shard behind, or InuYasha to take the Jewel shard from kagome, therefore causing the jewel to become tainted and to take possession of InuYasha, and because of his previous transformations, could (and probably would) kill them all. This is also hinting at tainting Kagome's heart, which means that she can't purify the Jewel shards so easily. everything finishes just fine, foiling Naraku's scheme, and everyone getting out alive. Sesshomaru is still hunting down Naraku, and Kagura is still trying to escape him. Kohaku is going in for the kill, and Kanna is stil being her usual creepy self. Normal.
