During the race to the moon, the government spent massive amounts on space exploration. Today, it is no longer a government priority, so funding for space exploration has decreased. Yet, NASA continues to work on new projects. Currently, however, space exploration is moving further toward the private sector. Companies like Space-X will soon dominate space exploration, and companies that make money expand rapidly.

Your question is backwards. Advancements in ships affected exploration. When ships were improved, they could sail farther, longer and faster. Better ships like that made travelling the world easier, so explorers could go off and find new places that Europeans had never seen.

Space: Easier to sea, easier to move about, not hard. Ocean: Pressure, sea monsters, engine or radar failure, cold temperatures. Above all I would say that ocean exploration is harder.

In actuality, technology creates more veterinarian jobs. There are jobs needed to handled the technology and interpret the results. Technology has made it relatively easier to have pets. New pet food is created by technology every day, and thus also new allergic reactions, etc.
