The Lowa, The Apaches, Utes, Shoshonis, Nez Perces, The Arikara and Crow.
Both the Sioux and the Nez Perces faced significant challenges due to westward expansion and the encroachment of settlers on their lands, leading to conflicts with the U.S. government. Each tribe sought to defend their territories and way of life, resulting in notable resistance efforts, such as the Sioux’s involvement in the Dakota War of 1862 and the Nez Perce War of 1877. However, their struggles differed in terms of geography, cultural practices, and specific treaties, with the Sioux primarily based in the Great Plains and the Nez Perce in the Pacific Northwest. Additionally, the Sioux were often more focused on hunting buffalo, while the Nez Perce engaged in agriculture and trade, reflecting their distinct lifestyles and interactions with the environment.
The Nez Perce tribe speak what's simply called the Nez Perce language. With only about 200 native speakers, it's considered an endangered language.
