The title "son of god" was not all that unusual in the first century. Emperor Nero titled himself, appropriately according to the culture of his time, as a "son of (a) god"1, because his adoptive father, Claudius, had been deified after his death. Many heros in Greek mythology were also sons of gods.
So, the title "Son of God" would not have caused great surprise among the Romans and Greeks, merely indicating that the followers of Jesus held him in high regard.
1 Claudius was recognised as Divus, a lesser god who had been human, not Deus - a true god. Latin did not have articles 'a' or 'the', so the phrase is a little ambiguous in Latin.
It teaches us that Jesus is the Son of God.
Jesus already has a title - God or Son of God. He makes saints. Saints are faithful followers of Jesus.
the tittle of Jesus was "the son of god" i hope that helps you out :)
Jesus was fully human as indicated by his title, Son of Man. These words reflect his natural human birth and yet Jesus was also fully divine as God's son. Jesus as 'Son of Man' is God in human form and so he understands what it means to be fully human. At birth Jesus is given the name Emmanuel which means 'God with us' (Matthew 1:23). Jesus was a human man and as that experienced the fullness of life: its burden and joy, its sadness and happiness, its pain and pleasure. Jesus was like us. Christians understand what the human condition is and so understand Jesus better when they consider he shared in living life as we do and knows what living requires of us.
Jesus had a few titles mentioned in the book of Isaiah , Emmanuel, Jesus, Christos and also the title Messiah.
John 5.18. "Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God." As the Jews, we believe the title, son of God, means God is Jesus' Father, and so he is equal with God. The person of Jesus is the visible manifestation of the living God; as Jesus said to Phillip when Phillip asked Jesus to "Show us the Father." Jesus answered him in John 14.9. "Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you, and yet hast thou not known me, Philip? he that hath seen me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou [then], Show us the Father?"
They understood Him to be the Son of God.
The pagans between the Arians doctrine with the Christians. They are also Christians but they do not believe to the divinity of Jesus as God and man.
