They increased trade and built huge monuments. Increasing trade put them in a better position for crafting. (Jewelry, architecture.) It also spread their presence. (Made Egypt more well known, or put them on the map.) The huge monuments increased religion in Egypt. You could even think of it as keeping the people loyal, or even pleased perhaps.
