it updated a statelite that's been up there for a few decades. this satelite maps space and it is very expansive, it cost alot to do this mission.

this certain satelite was made to be able to be altered so that in the future ( from now on wards) it can be modified with the latest technology. it went up there maybe 1960 not to sure but was awhile ago
