The wisemen and the shepherds both play significant roles in the Nativity story, highlighting different aspects of the birth of Jesus. Both groups come to pay homage to the newborn Jesus, demonstrating reverence and recognition of his importance. They also symbolize the universality of Christ's message, as the wisemen represent the educated elite from afar, while the shepherds embody the humble and local populace. Lastly, both encounters emphasize themes of guidance and revelation, as they each receive divine direction to find the Messiah.
The term "wisemen" is actually a misnomer. The wisemen were actually astronomers from the orient who came to find Jesus, but did not do so until about two years after His birth. The Bible doesn't say there were three of them either. So the phrase "the three wisemen" is not a correct statement. However, the men did bring gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh when they did find Jesus.
I am not sure, but I am guessing yes, because if the wisemen saw it, why wouldn't hte people see it also. But the wisemen knew that this star will lead them to the Savior of the world; the other people probably just thought it was a bright star and didn't give much attention to it. you know who it is
yes
People have given the Three Wisemen/Magi a handful of names... including Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthasar; as well as Apellus, Amerus, and Damasius.
