A physicist credited with the discovery of two new elements in the theory of radioactivity, polonium and radium and for isolating radioactive isotopes. Her discoveries were in collaboration with her husband, Pierre, and the extensive previous work of the famed physicist who accidentally discovered radioctivity, Antoine Henri Becquerel. All three shared the 1903 Nobel Prize in Physics for spontaneous radioactivity.
