A chemical element, on the other hand, is one or more atoms of a single type or kind of atom. If we look at some examples, it might help make things a bit clearer. First, let's look at what an element is.
Gold is that bright metal that has been sought for centuries, and for many reasons. Gold is a chemical element, and each atom of gold has the same number of protons in its nucleus. All these materials are chemical compounds, and they are composed of at least two different chemical elements. Additionally, the atoms can be separated by chemical reactions.
