Technically, North. Basic compass directions can be separated into two categories: those that run the lines of latitude, East and West; and those that run the lines of longitude, North and South. The lines of longitude converge to single points at the poles, and are all of equal length. The lines of latitude, however, run parallel to each other, and get shorter as they approach the poles. The poles are the extreme north and south ends of the planet. Take, for example, the south pole. if you walk around it in a circle, you would be walking exactly along a line of latitude. Needless to say, the compass directions are not as helpful at those extremes.

north and south pole. at the north pole the only direction you can move is south, at the south pole the only direction you can move is north... however this falls apart as soon as you leave the pole (even one step) then you can turn right or left and move east or west. (though not far)
At the South Pole, no matter which direction you take a step in, you will start walking towards the North. This is because the South Pole is the southernmost point on Earth, and all directions from there lead towards the North.
The North Pole and the South Pole are two places on Earth where one cannot specifically travel east or west, as all directions point south from the North Pole and north from the South Pole.
From the south pole there's only one direction available: north. As soon as you take one step from the south pole, you can either continue going north or go east or west; in the last cases you will make very narrow circles.
The north and south poles of a solenoid change depending on the direction of the current flow. When the current flows in one direction, the north pole of the solenoid is at one end and the south pole is at the other end. If the current flows in the opposite direction, the poles switch places, with the south pole at the end where the north pole was and vice versa.

The North Pole - because whatever direction you walk in away from it you will always be heading south. The North Magnetic Pole that is. Geographic North Pole is the correct answer. The magnetic pole is actually not in alignment with the geographic one.
The distance between the North Pole and South Pole is 12,430 miles. This mileage is calculated on the assumption one could travel between these locations in a straight line.
Once you've reached the south pole, you can only move away from the pole. And since you are moving away from the south pole you can't be traveling south. Aha! But you CAN travel south from the south pole. It's just that you will need a space ship to do it. We do not have two poles, called 'north' and 'south'. The pole is one line that continues indefinitely in a straight line, up from both 'poles' on the globe, as we call them for convenience. Hop in your ship, set your course along the pole, and fly south for ever.
