African elephants use tusks as weapons (and sometimes as digging tools), ears for both hearing and cooling, and the trunk is used to pick things up and move them around as needed, and also as a hose (elephants like to bathe).
their trunk, tusks, flat feet, large ears
Asian elephants are very alike to African elephants. Asian elephants have smaller ears. African elephants have huge ears. Asian elephants live in Asia, and are smaller than African elephants. African elephants live in Africa. However, they are usually the same color and they both have tusks made of ivory and a trunk for a nose. Now you know how to tell apart African and Asian elephants! There are only between 41,410 and 52,345 in the wild.
The elephant has a trunk. They also have tusks and extremely large ears. But I think the trunk is the most special about an elephant.
The most telling difference is the size of their ears and the presence of tusks. African elephants have much larger, more rounder ears than Asian elephants do, and tend to be able to have tusks more often. Asian elephants, on the other hand, have much smaller and more square or triangle-shaped ears (which ever shape you prefer) than African elephants do. A tusked Asian elephant (called Tuskas) is more rare than an Asian elephant with no tusks.
Unlike Asian Elephants they have tusks and are much bigger.
Indian elephants have smaller ears, and African elephants have larger ears. I also think that the African elephants tusks might be a bit larger than the Indian ones. This answer is not completely accurate, but the Indian elephants do have smaller ears than African.
some differences in African and Asian elephants is that: African elephants weigh up to 4000 - 7000 kg and have a height of about 3 - 4m, though Asian elephants only weigh about 3000 - 6000 kg and have a height of 2 - 3 and a half metres. African elephants skin is a lot darker and more wrinkled, where as Asian elephants have lighter and smoother skin. African elephants have a concave back, where Asian elephants have a straight or slightly humped back. African Elephants have a sloped head, with no bumps, bulges or denses. Where as Asian elephants have rounded heads with some bumbs and have a dint on the top of their head. African Elephants have larger ears with a size of 4m, and the ears cover its neck. Where as Asian elephants have smaller ears and it doesn't cover its neck. In African elephants, both male and female elephants have tusks, though male elephants tusks are larger. Though with Asian elephants, yes the males grow tusks as well, but the females don't. And if they do, they are barely visible anyways. Also on the end of a African elephants trunk, it has two fingers. Though Asian elephants only have one finger. ( These are true facts, I got them off my science teacher who specialises in differences found in similar mammals. )
True! African Elephants have bigger trunks, tusks, ears and other cool things bigger than Asian elephants. It is quite neat!!
No. They are quite different. The African is larger, with larger ears, and heavier tusks. The Asian is more often seen in zoos and circuses.
